SGF products with fiber technology

the new way to connect machines

Railway technology

Most people don't realize how many different parts is composed of a train. The bogie, in particular, contains more rubber-metal components than you might think. These include buffers, engine mounts, wheelset springs, drive couplings and many other parts. Those are often underestimated, but are very important for the functionality of the railroad. SGF offers products with SGF technology for all these applications. Our products always have the requirement to be high quality, especially user friendly and to meet the special requirements of our customer.

SGF Technology

Thanks to the SGF tension force principle, torques are transmitted completely by the vulcanized-in cord inlays. The cord inlays serve to damp torque peaks and to absorb start-up impacts. The rubber takes on a supporting and protective function for the cord packets and serves to isolate noises due to the interruption of the structure-borne noise path.

Thanks to the flexible usability of this technology, we are able to develop products for almost any application. Torque, stiffness and damping can be individually adjusted to your requirements using Tenpu® fiber technology.

Everything from one source

SGF is the engineering partner for railway technology. Together with our customers, we develop products that fulfill individual requirements. Thanks to over 75 years of experience and our state-of-the-art equipment, we are able to develop solutions for the most demanding tasks. Ready-to-assemble systems made of elastic components with flanges or adapters can be developed, tested and produced due to our great competence.

Inhouse
Materials Laboratory

During the development of our products, we use our state-of-the-art laboratory to ensure that you get the best possible solution for your application. In this process, we can use different elastomer compounds (NBR, SCR, EPDM, silicone / VMQ).

Virtual product
development

Before prototyping, our products are validated within the framework of virtual product development. From multi-body simulation (MBS) to finite element method (FEM) and FKM evaluation can be offered on request.

Inhouse
Testing

We test our products in detail. In addition to service life test stands, hydraulic linear and rotary cylinders, we also use electrodynamic shakers and high-speed test benches.

Drive shaft

To ensure that passengers experience a comfortable ride, flexible couplings enable, among other things, smooth power transmission from the gearbox to the wheels. They provide misalignment compensation and spare the driveline. With respect of the high load, maintenance and replacement are often necessary. For this reason, the maintenance interval should be as long as possible. Our high-quality and maintenance-friendly couplings extend the service life of your driveline and reduce life cycle costs.

Axle coupling tram

A flexible drive coupling that complies with fire protection class HL3 according to DIN EN 45545-2, R9 and has no mechanical or service life limitations compared to conventional couplings. In addition, existing interfaces and installation spaces can be adapted.

The maintenance intervals are extended up to factor of 1.5 compared to conventional rubber wedge couplings. In addition, the flexible elements can be mounted without external preload.

Drive shaft with damper

A flexible drive shaft that complies with fire protection class HL3 according to DIN EN 45545-2 / R9. An additional absorber can be placed on the shaft to reduce torsional vibrations.

The drive shaft is a scalable system for torques from 100 Nm to 40 kNm with adjustable stiffness and damping.

Hangers

Cord-reinforced silicone components are not only used in flexible discs or link couplings for torque transmission. Individual elements can also be used in the form of link elements to transmit forces.

Motor hangers

Elastic link elements transmit bearing forces with linear tension-compression characteristics.

The specific arrangement of link elements allows defined stiffnesses in the various space axes to be set.

Both linear and non linear characteristics can be represented.

Due to the material release for fire protection class HL3 according to EN 45545-2 / R9, there are no restrictions on the weight and size of the components.

The tension force principle enables slim and lightweight designs that offer a longer service life than comparable rubber wedges.
